I've decided on Corsa pace car exhaust for my 98 automatic coupe. There seems to be a lot or discussion on whether you should install the x pipe or not. Does it kill the sound or will the pop drive me nuts without it?
i had borla stinger catback with no headers , or x pipe & ya the popping noise on decleration is annoying , so i change the manifolds with tpis lg,& a rdm tech x pipe with no cats .To answer your question i would say its gonna depend on the indivdual the popping noise might not bother you but to an older fella he might hate it.btw if you know u are gonna get long tubes i would get the x pipe & the long tubes @ the same time ,unless money is an issue
I have the Indys on my 02 auto,I didn't care for the boat motor idle,so I put the X pipe on.The X pipe mellowed the system out,a more refined sound. If I had to do it over again,I wouldn't go with the X pipe.If I were you,I would try without and see how you like. You can always add the X pipe later. :yesnod:
Thanks guys. I think I'll try it without first and if the popping bugs me I'll add the x pipe later, but I am an 'old guy" and if something bothers me I'll change it quick!
Your '98 automatic coupe will sound absolutely gutteral without it. Definitely put in the X-pipe -- much better sound -- I have the Indy's with a generic X-pipe.
I put one on my 98 vert over the weekend. Replaced the stock hpipe because of a broken weld on on the flange. Used a pipe cutter for a clean cut .Bolted up to my stingers perfectly and all gaskets and hardware's included. Go for it , you'll like it. :chevy
I have a Bassani and it only gets rid of maybe 30% of the popping soung...but then I have Andy's exhaust mod too. If I were to do it over again, I'd still get the x-pipe but I'd get a lot cheaper one, that's all.
I had the Indy's for about 6 mos. without the X-pipe and I loved the sound. One day when visiting my daughter a construction worker asked me if," It was a diesel." !!! That did it....X-pip[e for me.
It quieted it down and got rid of 90% of the popping. The engine seems to be smoother and a bit more responsive.
I have heard the Corsa Indy's and they are crisp or high pitched and pretty loud without the X-pipe. I'm a product of the 60's so I prefer a low note. You do get popping on deceleration without the X-pipe and Corsa recommends the X-pipe. Try it without the X-pipe, if it is to loud, add the X-pipe.
