I'm trying to install an auto-dimming mirror on my 1998 c5 and i've get pretty much everything all set up. (I've already seen that one article, but that mirror is different from the one that I bought.) Well anyways, all I need to know is if somebody knows if there is a wire that will supply power only when the ignition is turned on and I need one that's near the passenger side fuse box, and that is not too hard to get to. If anyone knows of such a wire PLEASE let me know, I'd really appreciate it.
There are two Auxillary power wires near the fusebox on the C5.... actually three. One is black and provides a constant ground. One is Yellow and the other is Red. If I remember correctly the Yellow is 12v and always hot while the Red is 12v and hot only with the ignition. I used these wires to hook up the amp in my 2000 FRC.
There should be an entry in your owner's manual about these wires.
:iagree: Tucked up on top or on the left side of the metal box left of the passenger side footwell fuse box. You'll see them - just pull them out and splice into them.
