Default 78mm LSX results

I have a cam only Zo6 that was making 397rwhp. I swapped out the 2x cam for a 3x cam and it made 424 and then added the 78 mm fast and got 433 hp. So for my cam only car I gained 9rwhp on the dyno. Thats all I know right now, I will give more details after I pick up the car.

When you put a set of heads on that thing you will be over 450 at the wheels and have the perfect balanced C5, anymore than that is useless you already have traction issues on the street and more power than that hooking up at the track will only cost you money in repairs--but I know the addiction so you will probably end up with a 500+rwhp monster like I have that would be eaten alive by your car--if you can't get it to the ground its useless--I wish I had considered more of a balance as 99% of the time I drive my car on the street--Your car sounds great and well thought out congrads and 9rwhp for an intake change is very impressive--I think the 346ci cars could benefit from the 90mm intakes setup, after you swap heads you may want to just buy the top piece and a TB and give it a try it will be another 10 to 15 higher yet--

I totally agree with you bill on all accounts. I will stick with this setup for a while and only do more if I make it a dedicated track car.

Nice! I considered doing the same on our Z06, which is running around 415-420 RWHP (stock cat-back and stock heads) but wasn't sure about it. Still needs some tuning tweaks as well.

For those interested, we have several LSX intakes in stock and ready for immediate shipping. Best price around, too ;)

First of all, nice numbers for a cam only car.

Now regarding the FAST mod; I know I am going to be flamed here but that's only 2% gain for an $800 mod. or $100 per HP. Is that really great or not so great? Can anyone explain the enthusiasm to almost orgasmic proportions for the FAST intake? It sounds like a lot of sales hype to me.

drcoffee:I didnt expect much with the intake and posted to show people exactly what I gained so they can have some more insight in choosing for themselves. Not sure if it worth the $ but thats up to each indiv. I would encourage people to shop around and haggle a bit on these mani's. As bill said, the 78 is upgradable to the 90 in the future by replacing the top piece. After chatting with Julio about these manifolds, I do believe I would have gained more with the 90mm despite what FAST and other dealers say. I'm one who likes things done right away and didn't want to wait for a 90mm.

I personally think they should scrap the 78mm and base the 90mm for the smaller inches and build a 105mm or 120mm for the strokers--but then the strokers will have to find a way to get more flow from the heads or switch to other heads--I think Katech or who ever makes the c5r heads should offer a streetable version for the mod heads, little bigger combustion chamber so you can work with 11 or even 12 to 1 CR and more compatible with the existing intake manifold options etc--I am told the c5r heads flow an easy 400cfm which the strokers need--

I think $100/HP is average in most cases.

So is there any real comparison between the 78 and 90mm varieties? Obviously, the big cube guys will want the 90mm, but what about us bolt-on 346 guys?

I think you'll eek out more with the 90 but then you have to buy an expensive tb too, and then tuning, etc etc.
