Who can offer help on me removing the door panel so I can replace my driver side window. Had a rattle in the door, could not figure it out, when I rolled my window you yesterday to wash my vehicle, I noticed it seem like it did not want to line up right, but did not pay it much attention. Today, after claying my vehicle, I went to the car wash and my window basically misalined completely and I was able to just lift it out, no damage. To me it seems like the bolts that hold them in place came loose and the window over time dislogged itself to become misalined. So, I do I best remove my door panel to fix this problem. The motor works fine and all.
Re: Need help ASAP with driver side window (C5corvetteman)
There was a thread on this somewhere I think that was copies out of the service manual showing what needed to be done but for now, you need to take a plastic cover off of the door panel behind the door pull handle. It just snaps in. Pry it off with a flat bladed screw driver. This will expose two torx screws that mount the panel to the door itself. I don't remember the size of torx though. Onec removed, you will need to pry the door handle bezel off. It too is just snapped on and you'll need to carefully use a screwdriver to pry it off. There are a couple of slits that will allow you to stick the screwdriver blade in. Once that's off, the scarey part. You will need to find something rigid but thin to carefully pry the door panel from the door. All that is holding it on now is some christmas tree fasteners behind it. First, start at jsut below the seam in the door panel at the rear. You'll have to give it a good snap to pop it loose. Then, just work your way around the bottom edge to pull the panel out. the panel at the top is snapped in place with keeper tabs. Once you pull the fasteners at the bottom, push up on the door panel to release the top fasteners. The panel should come off now. Remember about your electrical wires feeding the window and door lock switches. I suspect you have a couple of loose nuts on the bottom of the window regulator. The front one you will have to access through a rubber plug underneath the edge of the door. You'll want to get everything aligned then tighten the nut to 89 inch pounds. hopefully someone will chime in with a link to that thread. Good luck!
