It's Sunday 3-28-04 and I'm trying to put my SportBrake cross-drilled and slotted rotors on my Z, but I can't get my rear rotors off. I have disengaged the emergency brake, removed the 2 holding washers and removed the calipers/brackets. The rotors should just slide off, but they seem to be suck somewhere. Does anyone have any idea how I can removed them or if there is something else that needs to be removed/disengaged? Thanks.
Re: Having problems removing rear brake rotor! Help!! (ValleyZ06)
I just had the rear rotors off my 98 this AM to adjust the P-Brake. Unless the Z is different (I doubt it) there is nothing else holding the rotor on. It should just slide off the lugs.
It is possible that the center hub has some rust on it, which might need a little jolt to free it up. Use a rubber mallet or the wood end of a hammer to do this. Hit the rotor from under the car at several places on the circumference.

:iagree: It's probably just stuck on there from rust. I loosened mine with a short 2X4 hitting in a few places around the edge of the rotor. I also sprayed the center hub and lug nuts with Liquid Wrench to help with the process.

The rubber mallet did it! I went to the hardware store and bought one. Came back and hit the rotor a few times around the circumference and it popped loose. Thanks guys for your help. I love this forum.

Glad you finally got it loose. I had the same problem on Sat. when I did mine. I ended up using some liquid wrench on the hub & eventually I was able to get the rotor off. When I did the other side, I started with the LW and let it penetrate while I took the bolts off and that rotor came off easily.
