Default Where do I add transmissions fluid?

I am in the process of trying to change my transmission fluid. The problem is. Where do I add the new fluid? :banghead: The transmission is a 97A4. Do I need to pump the fluid through one of the transmission lines? If so which one?

There is a fill plug on the left side of the transmission pan. Remove the plug and fill the transmission until fluid comes out of the hole. Then start car and continue filling the transmission untill fluid comes out of the hole

Vetteman...Do I need to put the transmission in gear or leave it in park?

It would probably be best to leave it in Park.

Make aure you bring the transmission to full operating temperature.
This can be accomplished by putting blocks in front of the front tires and putting the car in gear (this helps to generate heat by converter slippage), once your trans temperatures have reached at least 160 deg. F, put your car in park (while running), and check the level again; if you completely filled it while the trasnmission was cold and the car was running, there will probaply be some fluid pouring out of the fill hole, let it run out until the fluid is level with the hole. Make sure not to overfill the transmission, as this may cause damage.

No need on a six speed. On an auto it's necessary because of the transmission pump.
