Tech 2 = AutoTap?

I recently had to troubleshoot my ambient air sensor and I noticed there were some tests in the manual that would have been nice to perform had I the equipment.

I was looking at the AutoTap which hooks up to a Palm Pilot and talks with the computer. It looks like if you buy the GM enhanced codes, that it can talk to just about anything the Tech 2 can.

Would the AutoTap be as good as the Tech 2 for troubleshooting C5s or am I way off base on this?

AutoTap can only listen to your car - Tech 2 can talk to it, not just listen (i.e., pulse the ABS when you bleed the brakes to get out all the fluid, reset parameters in the PCM, etc.).
