Default Active Handling Malfunction

Hi all! New user here. Wanted to say HI and HELP all in one post! :)

Off and on for a couple of months I have had the Active Handling alert pop up on my IC. I've posted on Z06Vette.com and the consensus was that this is normal. However I believe it's developed into some what of a problem now.

About two weeks ago, I was traveling down a very well paved highway and my Active Handling alert ("Active Handling", not Active Handling Warm-up) appeared. THEN It appeared again and I felt a rear brake grab, slowing the car and pulling the rear end to one side just a tad.

I spoke with a guy up here in DFW about it who owns a C4 and he noted that the sensors were magnetic and that generally when this happens it is due to metal filings / debris on the sensors causing problems with them determining wheel rotation speed, causing the system to kick off.

I cannot find where the sensors would be located, however and was wondering if someone would have a scanned page of schematics or would be able to point them out to me.

For now, when I do take the car out, I turn the system off and drive very calmly because I don't want this problem to end up causing a wreck. The local dealership seemed to want to tap one of my veins to tell me where the sensors were -- insisting that they run $100 worth of diagnostics before even coming up with however much it would cost to fix it. Bogus, if you ask me.

Thanks in advance for your help, y'all!

The wheel speed sensors are on the spindle. Take off or turn your wheels all the way to one side and you will see the connector going to the center of your wheel. There is two other connectors at each wheel on goes to a black box and the other goes to the brakes I think. Some guys have gotten by with undoing the connections and cleaning them out with a cleaner. Hope this helps, Andy
