Has anyone experienced a condensation leak in the area of the passenger's feet from the AC unit? I got a big puddle there this weekend. I turned off the AC and it stopped. When I got home I removed the panel under the glove box and ran the car in the driveway with the AC on and no more leakage. I can see a hose connected to the side of the fan housing, that must be the drain. I haven't gotten under it yet to find the drain outside. Any ideas? Thanks.
Re: Help - AC condensation leak inside (Tombo2002)
Probably the common problem :mad but fix it quick because it can get water into your BCM and cause all sorts of havoc. There is a drain in the engine compartment that has probably stopped up. If you have very small hands you can just reach in there and squeeze it untill whatever is in there lets go. It's on the firewall kind of back between the battery shroud and the engine. You should be able to just see it with a light (may have to take off the shroud to get to it). It's a 90 degree elbow that points down almost directly on to the exhaust (smart move there). Some have said you can also get to it from below... Good luck :D
Re: Help - AC condensation leak inside (Tombo2002)
Here is how I resolved the interior leak for those interested. It is nearly impossible to get your hand on the drain from above, and very hard from below unless you hava a lift, which I didn't. From below I can see the drain. it is about a 1/2" hose with a nipple on the end. Probably to allow the AC unit to pressurize the hose so the water vapor can condense and also so you don't loose too much cool air. I could see that there was some debris in there, looked like carpet fibers or something similar. I could not get my hands on it. From inside I took the drain hose from the condensor and held my shop vac up to the hose to see if I could suck out what is in there. Then I reversed the vac to try to blow it out. Didn't work. From below I took a round metal file and poked it in the end of the drain about a dozen times before it was clear. Problem solved.
