Hey, Im looking at moding my intake, Im looking for ease of install
and what HP/TQ gains I should expect. Ive heard Blackwing is good
but would rather hear from people who have actually done the mod
and what they think of it. Im looking to spend under 800$. Also
do you end up keeping this mod if you eventually go to forced induction?
Looking to do the mod in a few weeks, only had the car 9 days now but
loving every minute of it!
2001 Mag Red 6 speed Coupe
Mods : none ( possibly lowered need to check leaf spring bolts )
LS1 Edit is a software program which through an interface can adjust the parameters of you PCM ( the computer in your car). In the hands of an experinced, trianed pro, your car can produce 10-20 extra h.p. on top of your mods. Some of the things LS1 edit can do is change shift points, change redline, adjust A/F ratio, turn off torque management, turn off skip shift etc.....I would not do LS1 edit until after some major mods, Im not sure there are any benefits after just and intake and exhaust
Ah, Thanks for the info, not looking to do exhaust untill after
I find a good local corvette club, I want to see and hear
them in person before I make that jump.
Blackwing and a short throw shifter. Dad just had the blackwing and a Borla Stinger exhaust put on and it really woke the car up. LOTS and LOTS of pull.:D The kirban short throw stopped us from breaking tranny's.
Shifter will allow you to slam it from 2nd to 3rd gear w/o fear of missing a gear. If you dont race a lot, you dont need an aftermarket shifter. I actually find them to be an annoyance during daily driving.
I would say get the Vortex and 2 tip Stingers for the money.
I JUST installed the Hurst shifter on SAturday morning. It is a HUGE difference over the factory shifter. I did not really know how "loose" and inaccurate the factory shifter really was till I drove the Hurst. My car has 6100 miles on it, so it is still pretty new. The new shifter is EXACT, It will take some getting used to, I used the springs that came in and it is certianly stiffer than the factory one was. I like the feel and the reduced distance between gears. It gives the car more "attitude" - Feels Like I am driving an exotic (oh yeah I am :D )
They only possible downsides to the Vararam are that the install is much more involved and you cannot drive through more than a foot high buildup of water.
