Rear wheel bearings, etc?
So, I went to the stealership for an inspection and of course they found things wrong. Anyway, they said I need new rear wheel bearings, and my axle seal is leaking. They want to charge me about 2 g's? They said the bearings alone are $700 a piece. Is this something that most mechanics could do? Thanks

Same Timken brand bearing is avaiable at AutoZone for under $200 each.Its simple nut and bolt replacement-.

Same Timken brand bearing is avaiable at AutoZone for under $200 each.Its simple nut and bolt replacement-.

Thanks. I did a search and found some good info. Let me think $700 for the GM part or $127 at autozone. That's a tough one.

Don't do it!!! I juuuust got 2 rear wheel bearings on my 99 because my speed sensors were rubbing on the inside & excessive slop in the wheel. I paid less than $400 for both. Paid my local Vette mech another $200 to put them on.
