Hi, I've got this weird popping/clunking sound when I take off from a dead stop. It seems to be coming from the passenger side front. The car only has 40K on it so I don't think it's ball joints or tie rod ends.
It doesn’t seem to have anything do with the clutch, as it’s the same sound no matter how I let it up or what RPMs I use.
Sometimes I think I can feel it also.
I did upgrade the sway bars to Z06's a few months ago wonder if this has anything to do with it.
Other than the sound, no other symptoms?

If you are absolutely sure its coming from the front than ignore this. But mines made the same noise you are talking about and it was the rear end (an additive corrected it).

One (or both) of the rear axle shaft splines can cause a snapping/popping sound. Removal of the rear axle shaft nut and lubing the splines will cure it. Since it is a '98 vert it is worth considering (mileage?) if in fact the sound is coming from the rear. HTH
