Default Coolant overflowing when heated up

When I take it out for a short drive it's fine but when I go out for a long drive it spills out of overflow tank when the temps get high. I thought it might be the overflow cap but I replaced it and it still does the same thing. Could it be the overflow tank that needs to be replaced? Has anyone ever had this problem? It's driving me crazy because every time I go for a ride I end up with coolant all over the back end, paasenger side wheels, and the engine bay.

You may have a bad radiator cap.... buy a new one and then drive it again...

Check to see if it's coming from the cap or the overflow tank seam. Mine was leaking at the black to white/clear plastic seam.

I'd take it in and have it checked at the dealership in your area.

My car did this just as I bought it, they found out when the Detail guy got gas and I was signing all the paperwork. they replaced the cap on the following monday and everything seemed okay.

500 miles later...... Coolant all over my garage floor after a warm day drive. Took it back in, the Coolant tank wasn't holding pressure, but looked like it was coming from the cap.

They replaced the tank and now, 5000 miles later it's still holding it's liquor. ;)

You have too much coolant in the system; watch the marks on the tank. Use a lower level and you will be OK. :)

:iagree: Odds are it is just the radiator cap.
