The actice handling service came on on the DIC tonight as I was driving. The light stayed on and I was unable to turn the active handling back on. I shut the car off and everything was back to normal. I was able to turn off and on with the button. Should I worry about this or let it go to see if I get another light. Also, I am going to Bowling Green next in two weeks and what if it happens on the long trip?
Mine did it also. Early one day I had toasted the tires (450hp) then the light cam on. I think my anti-lock warning came on too. I don't know if the anti-lock brakes like trying to keep the traction when you have a lot of power. I would also like to know about this issue.
Unless it left behind any codes, I'm not sure what a service center can do for it. It would spook me a little bit, though. Maybe it is back to normal behavior.
Running without active handling is not the end of the world, but you need to be more cautious in the rain or when you are taking corners fast, etc.
See you in Bowling Green! I'll be there in a few weeks for the C5/6 bday bash.
This may very well have nothing to do with your situation, but I experienced a sudden ABS and active handling failure recently. I cleared the codes and all was fine for a while, but the failure occured again.
It turned out that it was simply a corroded negative battery connection. Cleaning it up took care of the problem. I suspect that the ABS and active handling system expect a certain voltage and the bad battery connection allowed the voltage to drop too low.

There'sa lot of people on this forum that have experienced this isssue, and for various reasons. I just had my ECBM (Electronic Brake Control Module) replaced for the same issue. Do a search on Active Handling, both in Current, and Archived, threads. You won't believe it. The C5 Active Handling, ABS and Traction Control systems should be near bulletproof...and they aren't. I believe GM should take a close look at what's happening out there with these systems (recall?). These issues don't surface on any other car, with this frequency, that I'm aware of, and they're becoming standard systems on an awful lot of cars.
