I bought my 220 at A&A and I can return it, so cost is not an issue.
I called A&A and was told that I would lose some bottom end with the 224 vs the 220. I don't want to give up too much bottom end, so I am having a tough time deciding. If I decide to get som AFRs later on, I am wondering if I will see enough gain to justify the $$ if I go with the 220 vs the 224.
I was pretty happy with my decision until I read a post on the Z06 forum talking about what a great daily driver cam the 224 is.
you will not be able to run with the turbos with a 224 cam... thats why i recommend the 220 cam... becuase you will not see any differnece in lope or driveability with the 220 cam...
Get the 224. If tuned, you will lose no driveability and it won't give up bottom end either. If you have an M6 especially, this is still very small cam by current standards - tuning has come a long way.

Re: Comp 220/220 or 224/224? (colbachlaw)
I think the 224/.581 cam and the 205 AFR heads on a ZO6 would really compliment each other and be a :smash: killer street set up!
You would then be an excellent token Corvette :yesnod: on a Porsche rally and would represent US  well with that set up, and show the :troll Frat boys :jester a surprise or two (acceleration+cornering)! :steering:
Good Luck,:boxing

he will not run with the porsche for the following reasons:
1- he will not 400 RWHP with the setup he has.. 390 max
2- his torque curve is not as good as the porsche torque
3- the porsche has a very well power delivery system
4- a C5 is more like 3200
a Z06 will beat a C5 with bolt ons and a 224 cam..
a C5 needs to beat a Z06 to beat a 996 turbo.. i raced a turbo and a 224 cam only C5... the turbo will beat it!
i am just trying to make things clear for person who asked..

What kinda race? I've seen lot a of mid or high 11's posted in the qtr with a 224 and bolt ons... a stock Z06 isn't an 11 sec factory car is it?
i would recomend a larger cam than the 224. it idles well,no shake, never stalls. although this cam pulls hard, you will want to pull harder. maybe a 228 or 230?
have 224r cam with $1000 stg 2 heads and all bolt ons going about 12.0@115(398 rwhp)
have not gotten pulled by any z06's yet.(except for a 600rwhp supercharged z) still would be a little nervousl running a twin turbo.
the 224 will idle good, bottom end should not be effected.
you will need tuning to make it right. I wanted a daily driver
and i am glade i didn't get the 220 cam.
if you do heads later the 224 is as small as i would go.
Couple of thoughts. If you're concerned about loss of low-end power, you can always advance the cam two degrees. This will get your intake opening point closer to what the 220 cam has. If you want a bit more mid-range, get the cam on a 112 LSA vs a 114. It will idle a little rougher, and off-idle throttle response won't be as crisp, but the mid-range will be better.
I think a stock Z06 runs neck and neck with a Porsche 911 TT...so a c5 six speed with either a 220/220 114 or a 224/224 cam throwing down 390 hp should take out the TT..
As far as new heads..AFR seem to be the trick and the gentlemen who mentioned...the 224/224 as emissions legal for the sniffer test it would be as small as many tuners suggest for getting the most out of new Heads..(afr or otherwise)
No bottom end loss..with just these cams either..just a nice surge in the midrange..and upper end..
Totally civilized too....
Porsche is a great car but unless its a GT2 I wouldn't worry about it...especially if your running 12.4's @ 114mph...with a couple of bolt ons...
Sounds like you know how to drive well too..
Do the 224 cam and you'll take these guys out easily..
As far as the Porsche vs Vette thing goes, I forgot to mention I am driving a 2001 Z06.
I think a stock twin turbo is a low 12 second car (not that any of them ever show up at the track) and my Z is running 12.4x at 114 right now, so I am hoping a decent cam would at least make me even with the twin turbos.
With a set of AFR's and a decent cam I should be able to make 425 at the wheels, which should put me ahead of the turbo guys. If not, I can always bolt on an ATI blower.
Who sells the 228/228 or the 224/228? What is a good LSA on these cams for a daily driver?
Sorry for all of the questions, but I don't want to do this twice.
I would go with the Comp Xer 224/224. I watched an 03 Z06 with this cam, headers, a vararam, and MT/ETs run 11.4 in the 1/4 last year....not to shabby. The cam is a great cam...I and Andy have been using it for sometime now.
