Default Looking for advice on differential upgrade...Thanks!

I have a 1998 A4 coupe that runs strong from 20 mph up but does not have much out of the hole. I am running a 2.73 diff with a few bolt-on upgrades such as a B&B Triflow, Blackwing air intake and hypertech tuning. I can barely break the run flats loose at launch and though I don't plan to race would like to be able to light 'em up and smoke 'em when the mood strikes me.
I have been looking for a low miles 3.42 with no luck but have a line on a nice 3.15 diff. I wonder though if I'll get the seat of the pants thrill out of the 3.15 that I am told I'll get from the 3.42. Also, I wonder what recalibrations to my car will be required when changing diffs.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated...

David

I have 3.15 and I think not, I am going with 3.73 rode in one in Detroit and it was much better and will put a TC in as well. Just my .02

David; look here: http://mikemercury.home.att.net/342.htm

I wouldn't go beyond the 3.42 unless you're willing to replace your EMT tires with conventional non run-flats.

If you like highway driving use the 3.15, for all around 3.42. The overdrive in the A/T is not that great. You will have to recalibrate the speedo with the hypertech.
