Low coolant light

Low coolant light
My 97 has a habit of displaying "low coolant" on DIC. I've heard that 97's had a problem with sensor in the resivour. What is the fix ? Will a later model tank solve the problem ? vendor & pricing?

I had mine come on for the first time ever when I was sitting in traffic a few months ago. It stayed on for about 10 minutes, til I parked and shut it down. When I started it back up, all was fine. Haven't had it come back on since. I'm guessing the sensor set it off for no reason, because I hasn't come back on and I never even opened the tank. I hope mine isn't going.

Ran into the low coolant light problem when I swapped the coolant tank for a new painted to match coolant tank. Found out the problem was I was sent a newer style coolant tank which looks exactly the same as my 99 tank but the coolant float switch internal to the tank is different per model year of vehicle. The vendor where I purchased it from had no idea, but he ordered the correct model year tank and the problem was solved. Just wanted to save you the trouble of buying a later model tank that won't work for your specific year vehicle, because the coolant level switch will plug into both styles!
The only thing I can recommend is buying a new tank which isn't to expensive if youv'e determined it must be the switch inside the resevoiur.
