The zinc plating would be worn off very quickly. Probably there to inhibit rust while they are sitting on the shelf.

I've been through many different types of C5 rotors. I've paid as much as $200 each and as little as $25 each. The super wiz-bang precision grooved cryo-treated heavy duty $200 rotors yielded the SAME stopping ability as the $25 NAPA plain Jane rotors. Now, one would think those cryo-treated "heavy duty" rotors would last longer. Nope. The cheap NAPA rotors actually last longer! My advice, SAVE YOUR MONEY!

The only way to truly upgrade your brakes is to buy a kit like the Alcon or Brembo ones. You know the expensive ones. Eradispeed doesn't count. Read their fine print, not for track use. Even GM doesn't say that. In fact they say the OEM system is adequate for light track use.

Connellyh,
Thanks for the input. Not really trying to upgrade the brakes, don't race the car at all and I'm not that hard of a driver. Just considering them for what they add to the looks of the car over standard rotors.

thanks again.

OF course the zinc wash will wear off where the pad hits it. They ALL do that. Zinc wash is simply for the areas that are NOT touched by the pads avoid rust in those areas.
