I was out driving yesterday, having a good time. I was about 1 mile from home and went through a fast food place when I noticed my fan was not on. ( these baby's are loud) Then I noticed my temp. started to rise fast.
Got out of line and headed for home got about 2 blocks temp went to 260 go the warning on the DIC. Pulled over, open the hood and started checking fuses.
I pulled every thing related to a fan but the were all fine. Let the car cool down to 190 and I thought I could get home before overheating again. Started it up and the BIG bad fan was working again,
Now I am afraid it might do it again. What do you think it was?????
Well, alot of things could be going on. A bad fan motor, doubt that. If that was the case, at least one of the fans would have been working. What are the chances of both. Check the DIC for the problem code/s. Could be that one of the fuses weren't making a good connection 'til you started pulled & replace it.
Karma. Fast food - what's up with that? Have you been complementing your car lately? Taking it out for supper to nice places? They're finicky things. Treat them right, they'll treat you right. Ignore them, and they'll let you know that they're under-appreciated. :D
Okay, I get the fast food idea, Thing is I never park it and then leave it :nono: I 'm just funny that way. I have only one fan,(high output) Guess I will just watch it real close
Ah! I never caught the one fan situation the first time around. If you have the documentation for the fan, does the current draw exceed the amperage rating of the relay? Or is it borderline? Could cause the rely to stick. I realize that you didn't report a blown fuse, but it may be useful to fuse for load + 50% to avoid problems down the road. Finally, what does the fan wiring to harness wiring connector, or however you made the connection look like? If you used a frame ground for the fan, is it a known good ground? On the frame rail, just behind the headlight bucket, is an ideal point.
