Default Tranny ?

Is the tranny fill plug, the 11 mm bolt on the left side of the tranny that is up towards the front about 2 inches above the pan?

On a A4 of course...

Thanks

I would like confirmation of this?
I am looking at the Service Manual and the way I read it and looking at the picture the plug on the side of the pan is the Check/Fill and drain plug it is on the drivers side of the vehicle according to the Service Manual.

That is correct, it's the large plug on the left side of the pan.

Make sure the car is raised and level and the trans temp is between 86 - 122 degrees F, and the engine must be running with the trans in "P" before you pull this plug

Well the bolt that I am looking at is not really large. In fact, it is very small when compared to the drain pug. Do I have the wrong bolt.

Would you be able to post that diagram KRL ?

Thanks

The plug is on the oil pan on the drivers' side towards the rear. The exhaust pipe is about 2" to the side. It requires a 21mm wrench. And it can be a bee-atch to fill right, took me three times to get it filled completely.

:iagree:

If the bolt you are looking at is not in the side of the tranny pan then you are not looking at the right bolt, there is only 1 fill plug and it's in the tranny pan not on the side of the tranny case.

Thanks for all the help guys, but it was all in vain. The bolt was stripped. When I put the box end of the 21mm wrench, all it did was finish it off. So now, the bolt is stuck. Is it hard to drop the pan? I was thinking of trying to drill it/ tap it out with the pan off, of course. Should I just wash my hands if it and send it to the shop? It does not look that difficult to drop the pan. I am worried about the refill/refilter procedure.

Thanks

P.S. WallstAl, your tranny pan looks very different from mine. Is that an upgrade?

Well the guys at LG Motorsports came through and saved the day. They were able to remove the plug fairly easily. Thanks to Shawn/Sean? for taking care of it so quickly.
