Would it hurt to do the PCV mod that a lot of you guys did, to keep oil out of the tb, and use a vented catch can like this one? I heard conflicting stories that using a vented can will introduce excess air into the engine, and mess with the computer. Is this true, or just someone stating their opinion? Please tell me if this would work or not, as I know that you guys know what you're talking about.I am thinking about one of these cans, except in black, to give it the OEM look:
You cannot leave the filter on the top of the Jaz can. It will allow unmetered air past the MAF (making your idle fuel trims go out the window), and will prevent the PCV from scavenging vapors from the engine (just a big leak). This is not what you want to accomplish.
Remove the filter and smooth the top with a file if necessary. Go to the auto parts store and pick up a 1" plastic button fastener from the Help section and epoxy it in place to plug the top. It will match so well it will look like it was made that way.
Insert the Jaz can inline between the valley cover and the PCV valve, do not put it between the PCV and the manifold. Enlarge one hole at the end of the bracket, and use a bolt to attach it conveniently to the head. It will just about look factory...
Drain the can once every couple of weeks.
I was the first to use the Jaz can that I am aware of.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I appreciate the help. Did you also put on the LS6 PCV set-up, or just the can?
As far as the LS6 PCV info, the best info available is on this site here. It's an AWESOME site. Thanks for making it Jon!
With out much to do ,Just get the AMW CATCH CAN
AND there is bracket from Dark ages 53 on the ls1tech forum.
I have it and it is great .
jaz cans are for venting crankcase to atmosphere
If your going to do all the mods to the Jaz why not get what is the best made for a catch can,AMW
I did the ls6 mod to the pcv and really haven't had anything in the can.
Just had some mods done to the motor and only have a couple of hundred miles and 5 runs on the dyno and no oil in the can.

This unmetered air thing is beat to death. The only reason GM put the PCV intake in the throttle body is so they can steal filtered air wihout additional plumbing and filter.
I have an external filter and sealed off my ported throttle body.. My LTFT's are PERFECT!
the amount of airflow being used in a pcv system is trival and probably could not be measured anyway.. You are talking about a "FEW" cfm at best...
:smash:
The problem is not the unmetered air. It simply wont work. You need to install the catch can between the engine, PCV valve and intake manifold. If this catch can is installed in that place the engine will suck fresh air through the filter, and not through the crankcase.
