"A ported stock TB will outperform a BBK even on a somewhat higly modded car."
How in the world did you come up with this??? Have you seen this at the track or on dyno's? This is bogus information! I have seen many LS1 cars with mods and the bigger throttle body has ALWAYS helped out. Of course it is going to help out more on heavily modded cars( heads, cam, etc) and the gains are minimal on bolt on cars; but it does help!!
Not worth it and it needs to be tuned, Idle relearned . One thing is that it has a spacer that could be plumbed for nitrous injection very easily. look for a 90mm TB if you plan major mods.
:iagree: I can't imagine how a 75mm TB can out perform an 80mm. I talked with an engineer at BBK for over an hour.....they went through alot of R&D to finalize the design of the 80mm....it comes ported from BBK...its designed that way. it definitely makes more power on a modded car than any stock size TB. Also, it does NOT need to be retuned or have the idle relearned...I put one on my stock motor when I first go the car and it worked flawlessly...about 8rwhp gain. Again more bogus information.
