You'll hear some sort of ticking noise. Or you may see small black trails of buildup from a spot on the header flange.

yup,, soot traces, ticking, pieces of gasket missing,,,,no fix but to grin and replace gaskets,,,use the best possible,, if it is the colllector, thry the dead soft copper..some times they dont give enough to seal, but have worked great for me in the past,, as far the head to header, try OEM gasket , usually seal and last longet than the fiber type...I hate header leakes, about nothing sounds worse than a friggin flange leak,,tick, tick,, :cuss :cuss :cuss :cuss :cuss

can you hear it at idle the tick or why your driving. also will this hurt performance of the car noticably. :confused:

A small leak will not hurt performace that you can notice....
