I found the following info. off this site a while back, but I cannot figure out who posted it:
Take an OHM Meter and check to see if the SS lines are grounded. Place one end of the probe at the frame and work your way down the line to the end. The Meter should max out all the way down. If you loose the ground on the line or at least at the end, then.... You will find out very quickly which line is not grounded correctly.
I'm not quite sure I follow what this person says. I did the test and here are my results:
Front Left: can't get a reading from the OHM meter. It display 0L all the down the line.
Front Right: same as Front Left
Rear Left: I get a reading of 1.7 down the line
Rear Right I get a reading of 17.1 ~ 20.0.
So, is one or all of these lines need to be grounded?
How would I attach a ground wire to keep my ABS from kicking in?
If anyone can help me out with this and everything turns out perfect then I'll post pics of how I did it.
Re: SS brakelines (testing for proper ground)? (hrdtopv8)
When you calibrate an ohm meter (touch the leads together) it should max out. When you touch each end of the SS lines the meter should max out as well. The one that has 0 or close to 0 is the bad line and needs to be replaced. Reason why I say that is because we tried to do a grounding strap and it eventually went bad as well.
I have a set of Goodridge and a some other custom made set that came with my Big Brake system. I started out with the SS russels which were a POS. I learned all about the brake system problems with grounding with the russels.
