Default De-Coder's Check engine and P1133

A quick summary just in case something jumps out at any of you -

Check engine light just came on, all gauges look right, power seems to be all there, RPM's dipping at a stop to come back up to 900rpm. Current codes P1133 H C ........ and BCM B2735 (looks entirely unrelated, my remote batteries are dead)

The C5 sat for almost the last 6 months, having put it back on the road last week. 27,000 miles on it. Yes headers (see sig). Prior to tucking it away last fall 03' I filled it with gas, added some STA-bil, popped it on Battery Tender....forward to last week 04' when I changed the oil. I've driven about 150 miles since last week. I did top it off with 93 octane early on just to make sure (my gas gauge is squirrely) but it only took 2 gallons.

I have the manuals, I see what it is saying to scope out this HO2s sensor thing. Could this be the cause for the check engine too or are these entirely different? Hard or easy task for a self-professed meathead in the DIY dept.?

I have alittle cruise tomorrow, bad idea to push it before figuring it out? Guess I want to know, "will I blow the motor" or "nah! just get a fixed shortly" thing.

Thanks in advance.

Lance

The P-1133 could be a dirty oxygen sensor or just one that has gone bad. You can unhook the wires and screw them out and clean them, or just replace them. My guess is that the sensors have just picked up some trash or misreadings from it sitting up so long, maybe the pcm just needs to readjust and gain some history on all the sensors again. The other code B-2735 is for the pass-key programming.
Sounds like all you need is a new remote battery and to put some mile on her.

Thanks for the responses

I am going to run it a little more and hope it cycles through. I did buy the $10 premium Chevron cleaner deal to see if that speeds the process up. If that doesn't do the trick then I will scope out the sensors. From what I've heard and read this isn't abnormal with headers installed.

Both my key remotes are dead  for some time (like years), so those I am not concerned about other than gettin off my butt to buy batteries, etc...

I'm calmed now, just when lights start coming on, you have that initial "UH-OH" feeling, especially when you've modded things up a bit :D

You did buy the best cleaner! If you still get the 02 code, you may need programming for the headers, or just buy the 02 simulators like I did. I think I paid like $69 at Thunderacing.

I have an orig. fob from 97 and it still works, however I found out when you disconect the battery (in the car not remote) you have to re-learn the fob. Very easy just hold the lock and unlock buttons for about 15 seconds untill the horn sounds and lights flash. Hope this works for your newer C5. Good luck, Mike

Check engine light is gone as quick as it came on. I ran the tank down that had the 6 month old fuel in it, put 12 gallons of fresh Sunoco in, a $10 Chevron fuel treatment deal, drove about 40 miles and out it went.

This all makes sense and confirms many of the archived posts on check engine light (majority anyways).

Looks to be in my case it was fuel related...pheww!

Soooo... car is running great and I want to hit the track :steering:

Oh yeah, still need to get new batteries for key remotes. Tried the relearn deal and the remote + car = they don't know each other. No problem.
