Ceck Engine = Emmissions? Y/N
I posted yesterday (link below) about check engine light on and some codes, though not completely sure if they were/are related because I don't check for codes on a regulare basis. I looked at the "check engine light" topics archived and it seemed the majority were emmissions related. Actually they seemed to be loose gas caps, bad gas, etc...
My car runs fine, as I said before, all gauges and #'s are fine... sooo. . I added 12 gallons of fresh 93 Sunoco (previous gas was 6 months old w/Stabil), light stayed on, but I came home and cleared my PCM codes. Today light goes off, drive about 20 miles and come back on. I do a couple aggressive runs through first 3 gears, come home and check codes, no new codes but light stays on.
Is there a certain amount of ignition cycles or tanks of gas to run through ? And, yes I am presuming it is a simple thing with fuel.
Some old posts said the dealer needs to reset this ???
