Questions on rear end gears?

At 75mph I am cruising at 2550rpm so not too high, and she feels so much stronger now and will spin the tires at will.
How low can I go with out having problems with the computer or other speedo etc.?
If you swap in any gear ratio you will have to reset your shift points since it is an A4. The speedometer will not have to be recalibrated, which is a factor unique to the C5.
The gears seem to go for around $350 to $400 any recomends on brands or vendors? There is only one manufacturer of gears for the C5, Motive. We rebuild differentials here, and have some on special right now. 3.73 or 3.42 rebuilt with a one year warranty is 1400.00 outright. You will receive 400.00 back when, and if, you return a core.
How much is an average install and how much of a job to do yourself?
An average install would run about 400-500.00. We, however offer installs for 300.00. It is really not to labor intensive. Any person with an average set of tools, and pretty mechanically inclined can do it within 4 hours in and out.
Most people with A4s do install 3.42, but 3.73 is another popular choice. We also have one set of 3.42s that has been freshened up. We would take 1000.00 outright for them and they have a 30 day warranty.
Also, at the time of gear install, I might suggest a convertor swap also. If you plan on doing one in the future, you could kill 2 birds with one stone, and save the labor;) It will cost the same thing later down the road for a convertor install.
For shift point recalibration I would either recommend a Diablo Predator or LS1 Edit. If you need us to LS1 edit your shift points, we can do them by mail for 200.00 (which includes return shipping to you;))
In any case, I would love to speak with you. We can take care of all the above mentioned, or point you in the right direction. Shoot me a PM or an email if you need any help.
