Re: What Causes a "Charge System Fault" Code???? (Buckmaster)
Mine shows 14.4 when everything has stabalized (car running down the highway)
Wow, ok......the volts didn't seem to rise while driving which may mean an alternator problem? I hope not......I can't win.............
Every car is different as I don't think the voltmeter is that well calibrated so the absolute voltage may differ, somewhat, but you should see a voltage increase when the motor is running. The only way a battery charges is if the circuit voltage is higher than the battery voltage.
Re: What Causes a "Charge System Fault" Code???? (Richin Chicago)
Well I just started the car after being on a trickle charge all night and the volts were 14.1 and I let it idle for awhile but didn't take it out on the road.....I guess I'll just watch it and see.

That sounds good. I'll bet you get up to around 14.3 or 14.4 when it has been run for some distance.
Re: What Causes a "Charge System Fault" Code???? (Richin Chicago)
Charge System Fault means the voltage is either too low, or too high. Don't recall the exact threshold, but probably 11V=Low, over 18 =High. Either the alternator is not charging, or overcharging (voltage regulator fault)
