Had an oil leak from the driver left side..somewhere. Decided to replace valve gasket because it looked like it was coming from there. Glad I did. As I was removing the last coil closest to the firewall, I heard a something clink and fall to the ground. I thought that was weird, I have the socket and the nut still in my hand... I pulled the coil off and whoa! A hole the size of a dime where the stud for the coil support was. Looks like it had been just sitting there held in in by the top coil nut, and leaking when I got her up to speed and higher pressure.... At least thats my theory.. now I have to aquire a cover...anybody got a stocky laying around? Otherwise, I'll order from Fictner. Think this was my trouble? Certainly all signs and location point to it... Here's a pic. P.S. I was happy since I am the third owner of the car, that the cover underneath was just a little stained and not pitch black...I was worried about what I was going to see...looks okay...except for the hole.
Re: Found my oil problem: anybody ever seen this? (SilverSlingShot)
My bet is that coils had been off the car before and someone over torqued that fastner and fractured the cast valve cover. Not hard to do I figure. Glad I saw this as I just pulled all my coils last night getting ready for the cam install. Thanks!

I haven't looked at how the coils are mounted exactly, but to save you some money, could you take the cover off and dremel out the hole, then retap new threads? Then put a larger bolt with teflon tape in for that coil pack?

Take the cover to the local TIG welder and have him/her take a shot at repairing it . Hardest thing will be getting it clean enuff to get a good bead.
I'll take it tho' if you are going the new route.
