Having trouble with fuel starvation. Occasionally the car dies and will restart but stalls in a few seconds. Hooked up a fuel pressure test gauge and not getting any fuel pressure. A few times there's pressure and about every other time- no pressure.
Fuel pump is supposed to energize when turning the key to the "on" position but it is not happening every time. Checked the fuse for the pump and it's OK. Checked for power at the fuse and I've got 12 volts at the fuse.
Just had LG header system installed and don't see any fried wires.
Bad fuel pump? Anybody know how to get to the fuel pump wiring?
I believe the pump is in the left tank?? Do I have to remove the bottom panels of the car to get to the wiring for the pump to check the ground connection?
remove the left tank shield over the rear of the tank I belie it has one 10mm bolt and the a 13mm, that will allow you to check your pump. On 99 and up the oressure regulator is in the fuel filter, I had one come in from a quick lube place with an aftermarket filter and it had the same symptoms as your car, replaced it with a AC-Delco filter and the problem was solved.
OK, I've been working on this all day and found 12 volts at relay but no ground at relay coil terminals. I jumped the switched terminals on the relay and the fuel pump started right up.
Is there a fuel cutout safety switch somewhere on the car?
Everything else works so I doubt it's a poor ground.
Thanks for the help. I'm really learning this car!
