Default To MOD or NOT to MOD?!?!

well i picked up my first C5 on friday night. before buying i had all these plans to do heads, cam, headers etc. but after driving the car... im not sure i want to anymore! the car seems just perfect. it is slower than my LT1 but just a joy to drive!

im assuming my 01' is prolly a low 13 sec car stock? what kind of RWHP and TQ numbers am i looking at stock? what about you guys with mild MODS such as intake exhaust and headers??

i guess i would like to turn the car into a low 12 car without actually digging into the engine like i did with my LT1. i just really dont know if i want to mess with it?!

although im sure after driving the car for a month my mind will change! :D

Well modding is fun, but try and get borred w/ the car, then mod so you feel the difference. Maybe borred is the wrong work b/c these cars rock.

A stock mn6 vette is a low 13 second car stock, some have run high 12's. Stock they dyno around 310/315 hp/tq. With a new intake, headers, and a catback they make around 340's rwhp. That w/ some sticky tires would get you mid 12's.

Modding is an addiction... soon the car won't as perfect as you think ;) Then your wallet will start getting lighter and lighter.

Mod...But wait until it has worn off its "new" to you.

I, too, originally was happy (STILL AM!) But that isn't stopping me from a full heads/cam/headers package come June.

Ahhhhh, another member going to the point of no return. As always a temporary high to go quicker, faster, and gain more power. Spending our childrens inheritance and forcing our wives or significant others to question our sanity. Still want to mod ????? There is a group purchase on kooks going on NOW!!!!

Congrats on the new C5. If your happy with the performance of your stock car then my sincere recommendation is that you leave it that way. The C5 is very fast stock. You can't compare the performance of a C5 that someone spent 10 or 20 grand on with turbos or blowers. Enjoy your new car -- the C5 is one of the best on the road.

Mark

I too just purchased my second Vett, I was thinking about waiting for the C6 but with no gms, and the great zero financing that GM was offering I couldn't past up a Silver Vert with black top. I had a coupe before but with the trade I was able to step up to the vert. I love it. On the 02 I had the Corsa Pace with X, K&N filter, coupler, the car was very fast off the line when comparing it to the new car, it wasn't the same. I modified as fast as I could and love it. This time stepped up to the Vara Ram, if I only had the money for 1 mod it would be the Vara Ram, when you step on the gas you feel your hold body back against the seat. I also went back to the corsa pace and x pipe. I've heard others say that like the Stinger, but I love my Corsa pace. Also have the carbon fiber power duct and coupler. The car is awesome and I think I'm done with the mods. It's fun to add them 1 at a time to see the difference didn't have the $$ to add all at once. Does anyone know how many HP the corsa pace with X pipe adds. I've looked on the Corsa site and it does not list specfic HP gains. :chevy
