I took my new Z to the track this weekend and had some of the worst wheel hop I have ever seen. First and second gear nothing but wheel hop. Now I have another race this weekend. I need to do everything I can to get rid of this.
What I know so far is running with 295x35x19 is no GOOD :nonod:
Plus I think I have my car lowered to much so we are going to raise it up a little. I plan on running 17" DR this weekend but is there anything else I can do to get rid of the wicked hop
Congratulations on your new ride. Jeff told me earlier you had changed to a Z06! Nice color!
I will miss this weekend’s race as my wife and I are going on a cruise out of Galveston for a week. But Jeff and my older son will be at Hallsville. Wish I could go. Have fun if you are going.
i had this problem once on my mustang when i changed the rear springs, they were too stiff for my application, so i had to go back to the stock springs. :yesnod:
Slip the clutch out of the hole. I usually hold it at 2K rpm's, and then feed in the throttle as I let out the clutch. Car comes off fast and hard with no wheel hop. If you ease into 2nd, and don't get real violent with it, you shouldn't have any wheel hop.
A friend of mine who has a 2001 Z06 is having the same problem. A lot of wheel hop in first and second gear. He has BFG Drags but he didn't lower his air pressure. He had about 32 pounds in the rear tires. I think his main problem is the tire pressure. He is thinking he needs to get some aftermarket shocks for the rear.
I got rid of 95% of my wheel hop. I had my car lowered to much so I raised it up just a little. Plus I put Nitto 275 DR's on the back with 17 pounds in them. I launched at 2500-3000 but all I got was wheels spin. You really need to put so hit into the DR's to get traction. (ie Line Lock now installed).
