Default Quik ATF question

I have 50,000 miles on my 99 coupe...I want to do a ATF flush today. Should I replace the old ATF with same fluid or synthetic fluid???? Does it matter????

You will get many opinions on this..... If you are going to keep the car going as long as possible, I would use the synthetic stuff like Amsoil. If you plan to sell, or only use the car for another 30K or less, I would just use the normal Dex III fluid. :)

Not sure yet...I just wanted to do some prevent maint. Should I just drop the pan or do a total flush? Also, should I let a Firestone do the flush or the dealer (I will save a bundle at Firestone)

At 50k miles you should do a complete flush, filter change. As far as ATF, I use DEX III, not syn. but change every 10k miles to keep the tranny clean. If you talk to GM powertrain and the folks at FLP they will tell you NOT to run syn. Their claim is the syn. causes band and clutch slippage. FWIW.
