Default cam installed, couple aftermath questions

I realize I have to get it tuned to run right and have an appointment tomorrow for that.

what significance does "degreeing" play in the over all scheme of things? mine I don't think was degreed. is that something that can be easily done after the fact?

also, since the install my ac has been acting strange--when it's turned off it blows hot at my feet. when I turn it on full blast on cold it barely blows but blows hot at that. only way to keep it from blowing hot on my feet is to turn it all the way up on outside circulation (which results in no air at all from any of the vents.)

um, wtf? thanks for any and all input. :)

My guess would be a vacum line at the back of the intake manifold that has not been reconnected. Apparently this is a common mistake by several who have had the intake off. Hope this solves your problem. :)

I agree. Check the back of your intake manifold and see if it is plugged in. Very common mistake. Kaley

Unfortunately you really have to do the degreeing at the time you are putting the timing set back on. I degree'd mine in, and went from 2.6deg off the target intake centerline and dialed it to within 1 degree. Most people will tell you dot-dot is fine, and degreeing in is just an additional fine tuning. I did mine as much for the fine tuning as for making sure I didn't do something wrong before buttoning it back up.

If you put in a two-piece front engine cover there might be a way to do it, but even that that would be very difficult. Really have to pull the steering rack, pulley and front engine cover off to do it right. Hope that helps.

Good luck!

we never had the intake manifold off but I'll check anyway. where do I look? I have no experience at all and have no idea what I'm looking for. thank you all for your input.

Ttheres two connection back there. One is for the brake booster hose. The other is a 3/8" to 4mm elbow, which leads to a couple of splitters for the hvac controls oand other functions.

ok, on my way to dyno/tune I tried the air again and it finally did work--blew ice cold at full power. after 30 minutes or so, dang thing went warm and died to a trickle. then again, heat on the feet--BUT, it's blowing cold on the passenger side.
