Hello all, yesterday I became the proud owner of a new 2004 auto Corvette. The car has no options whatsoever. So far I have put 40 mile on the car, all I can say is I love it. I live in So Cal. Ok so on with the questions, first of all I am aware that the questions I am about to ask have probably been asked at least 12,649 times, but I also know that the corvette has aftermarket parts coming out all the time as well as revisions to existing parts.
I have about 2-3 grand of money I can invest into just power. This includes labor costs. My mechanical abilities are not great but I can probably change an intake and exhaust. I donÂ’t think I can do advanced things such as cams and heads. The things I do want is a much meaner note to the car, rite now it is pretty mellow at idle, I want it to grumble. What would be the best exhaust for the money, keep in mind I donÂ’t want it to the point where the interior starts to peel off, and since IÂ’m in Cali, I must keep the cats. Well I leave it up to you guys, my prior car was a Mercedes, so I could not change anything on there so I am sort of hungry for modding. Any and all suggestions welcomed, and also can you guys give me expected hp results. Thanks a lot. And to those in southern California where are some good shops (cheap and trustable). Any great online places (cheap and reliable again). Thanks -Mike
edit: i would also like to keep my mpg as high as possible, if possible = )
You probably only have the 2.73 rear end. I would look to replace the rear gears. At least 3.42 like the MN6. I would go 3.73. Then you could go 3500 stall speed. Then tuning for the new gears, exhaust, intake :) Check down the left side. You will see many choices. I have had good luck out of all of the vendors that I have used. LAPD has most of my money.

Re: Please help, (GEAUX)
I agree with L.A.P.D. as a good reliable source of information/parts and installation. Go visit them. Have a look around and tell them what you would like to do, what your budget is etc and they will fix you up with very cost effective mods. HTH

Re: Please help, (new owner). (magelin)
Air intake and exhaust would be my choice for a litte extra power (with the intake) and a little better sound (with the exhaust).
Having 2-3 grand to spend is a good problem to have but I must warn you MOD's are addicting and before you know it 2-3 grand has become 3-5 grand and so on and so forth.
