Hey guys, i am having a problem with me ac. the light flashes then goes off. I read that if it is not 40F the AC will not come on..The problem is the sensor that reads the outside temp, is not mounted correctly and the reading someetimes go out of wack. I need to remount it correctly. Where is it located? The clip is supposed to be broken, that is what my buddy told me. Has anyone had that problem? Can it be anything else? Any info would be appreciated
The outside temp sensor is located under the passenger headlight and protrudes just above the air dam under the nose on the passenger side of the radiator intake area.
You can get to the sensor by opening the hood and raising the headlights. If you reach down between the inboard side of the headlight and the chassis, you can feel it. It's a small oblong plastic part about 1.5 inches long.
Sounds like it is shorted. If you disconnect the sensor (i.e. open circuit), the unit should default to about 56 F degrees and allow your AC to work. The connector itself could be corroded and be the problem so check that it is not the short problem.
Good Luck. FYI... I know the capital city well - used to live in the western suburbs.
Hey man, i unplugged the sensor and it did't default to 56 degrees. It is sometime accurate then sometimes it is out to lunch..Any other things that i could try? Thanks
