Default Headers and GHL's ?

Anyone out there have experience with GHL's before and after installing headers? I'm really interested in getting some headers but I don't want it to get too loud or introduce undesireable drone inside the car. Right now the GHL's are really great....no drone but they sound awesome when I romp on it. Any feedback from those that have BTDT? Any input is appreciated.

I had the GHL's on my car first with no other mods.

I then added the FLP header system. Idle and cruising sound/volume stayed about the same, not much difference at all. No increase in resonance. Noticibly louder under hard acceleration/WOT..gave the GHL's a very mean bark.
I then got rid of the cats and used the straight pipes. Very noticibly louder at idle, acceleration and anywhere in between, but still very livable and sedate at highway cruise speeds. A slight increase in drone at 1500 rpm. I'm happy with the sound like this, but I wouldn't want it any louder than this.

I think you'll be very happy with the sound if you continue to use cats with whatever headers you buy. Going without the cats may produce the unwanted volume and resonance you are wanting to avoid.

I have L.G.3" headers and exhaust system with Radon catalytic Convertors. The system is connected to G.H.L Exhaust. At an idle or crusing at a steady speed, the exhaust is rather pleasant. If I open it up,it lets people know I'm in the area.I think you will be very happt with this mod. :chevy :chevy :flag :chevy :chevy

Rod,

Thanks for the feedback. How is your ground clearance with this setup. Do your cats hang below your rocker rails?

I have the GHL's with the FLP LT's, sound is great (with cats installed, too lound for me without) - zero clearance issures. I recommend both systems.

I park my car in the subterraneam parking under my apt..The headers and all the mufflers, cats and pipes clear quite well.no problems dragging the exhaust over the hump entering the parking lot. :chevy :chevy :flag :chevy :chevy
