Default VaraRam Install

Got mine done last night, boy what a pain! The worst part was getting the turn signal/DRL wiring free of the air deflectors. I still only have the airbridge sitting down on one grommet, it's almost on the other but I ran out of time and light to tweak it. But the car idles fine and no codes, seems to run strong but I need to get off to the track soon but it's gonna be awhile due to family issues and rain. One last question, did anybody remove the rubber mounts on the forward part of the frame, my ram tubes are pushing on them and I wondered if they were supposed to be removed?? Thanx, Jeff

Hey I just installed mine last night (and into this morning :D ). I assume you are talking about the mounts that the airbox used to be connected to on the crossframe? If so then yes you are supposed to remove them.
I can't get my airbridge on the grommets either. How are you adjusting it?? I also can't seem to get the foglights perfectly lines up. The very top off the light is clipped off. I guess I need to do more adjusting as well!

Oh yeah... in case Vararam hasn't heard this 1000 times.... your install instructions stink.

So how do the damn mounts come out, I'm afraid I'll have to take the ram tubes out to get out? Jeff

The mounts are Torx head screws. You might be able to get to them with the pipes on but I'm not sure.

Mine comes in tomorrow. Can't wait to try it out. Does the car feel stronger? What did you have on it before? Kaley

Just put one in my car Wednesday night. Lucky for me a couple of good buddies of mine did most of the work and they had experience so it wasn't a bad job at all. ;yn I only drove the car home. Had no codes, but, I understand it takes about a hundred miles for the computer to adjust to it. I replaced a Vortex, so, we'll see if it's what it's cracked up to be.

Car feels stronger, I can seem to get to the track due to the never ending rainstorms here in Mich. I expect to get to the track on the 28th, but not sooner. I know the car roasts the tire from a stop much harder than it used to. I can't wait to see how it runs. Jeff

I just pressed it down, but I loosened up everything and horsed it down onto the grommets, but I think the forward airbox mounts are pushing the ram tubes the wrong way. We'll see. Jeff

I only drove it to work today and kept it pretty easy for the computer to adjust. I should know for sure in a couple days...or maybe on the way home! :D

I don't think you're going to feel much of a difference until you shift into third and hold it to redline. That's when the air really starts to get forced into the intake and it you can really begin to feel that added pull. It'll make a small difference to 60 MPH but the real gains are 60 and above.

Only at >60MPH. Had a blackwing before.

Car is a lot quieter too. With the Blackwing, you got a great intake growl when you stood on it - you hardly hear anything with the VaraRam - it's as quiet as the stock airbox.

Good thing the headers and the Ti make up for that ;)

Bill,

If you ever get those fog lights figured out, PM me or post. I put my Vararam in 2 weeks ago, and I still can't get them lined up in there. Same thing, the top of the light is clipped off. I've think I've tried pert near everything I could think of as far as spacer combos and haven't been able to get it.

Thanks
Tim
