Default Patriot Performance Cam and Head question?

I have a 99 m6, with 4.10 gears. What do you think of PP 5.3L heads and 224 581 lift cam?
Has anyone recently had any problems with Patriot Heads and cam packages?

Do a search on some other forums (I don't know if I can post the names or not, and don't want to get into trouble.)and you'll get the answer to any question that you have about those heads and cam. They had problems with the seats dropping and valve seals in the 6.0 LS6 style heads, because of the welded chambers, but they don't weld on the chambers for the 5.3 heads, and they switched over to Viton seals, so I think that they fixed the oil problem. In my opinion, I think, for the money , the PP heads are good, but there are forum vendors that can hook you up with some good flowing heads too.

For best performance for least money, Patriot 5.3L Stage II or Absolute Speed 5.3L Stage II heads are definately the leaders. The patriots can be had for $1295(no core) regular price and the AS 5.3's for $1399(must send cores). I'd personally go with the PP 5.3 because you don't have to fork out the core charge to begin with and they come with titanium retainers, while the Absolutes come with comp 918s(for higher lift cams). The absolutes are going to flow about 10-15 CFM more@550 and 600 lift.

Same cam on 112 with the 6.0 liter heads. All I can say is, I beat my car like no other and it just asks for more. :steering:

Do a search if you can. I remember a huge discussion in regards to the Patriot heads failing. Not sure how or why, but there were numerous folks that agreed to it through personnal experience or other posts. Because of these posts, I will not buy these heads even though they appear to be a good buy.

Thats complete and total BS, you need to get your facts straight before spreading rumors on the internet. There has been ONE set of heads that had a dropped seat and that was a FACTORY GM installed seat in Todd of discount tire directs 5.7 heads. There has not been a single instance of a welded chamber head failing in any way. There were some valve seal problems earlier that was attributed to the valve seal supplier. Post like yours makes the small amount of problems seem larger than they are. Btw, check the newest summit racing catalog. If there was any quality issues, I'm sure Summit racing would not be selling the heads with their "no questions asked" warranty return that they offer.

I apologize, if my info was incorrect. Thanks for correcting me!

I think that it's you that is making a big deal out of it. I think that you should sit back, relax, and take a deep breath, because it's all good!

I think that whatever problems that Patriot had, are long gone. I appreciate the fact that they listened to their customers, and have good customer service. They handled the problems that happened, and that's what a good business does. My props to Patriot for that. I wasn't trying to bash Patriot, or anyone else, and I apologize if it seemed like that.

Heck, I've been thinking about getting a set of Patriot heads, or some Absolute's for my car. They are a good deal (probably the best performance per dollar going today). There are better heads out there, for sure, but none as good for the money (that's just my opinion, so please don't get your shorts bound up). Have a GREAT day! PEACE!!!

JJGree; I apologize for taking this off track, but I felt it was appropriate if I said anything that was a falacy, or incorrect. You should buy the heads that you feel comfortable with. You can search the other forums, and get all of the information that you can digest, and draw your conclusions from that. Best of Luck to you!
