My 04 with the Z51 suspension is lowered on stock bolts only, no bushing cutting. What is your experience going to the one-inch shorter Bilstein sport shocks?

What would your objective be? Do you road race, drag race, etc?

Nice setup Blazeone! My question to you is, how are you managing the extra thought process required with your current setup with the 3/4-1" lowered affect now? Is is any bit a hassle going over speed bumps, driveway entrances and the like?

Bilsteins are a bit rougher in the ride dept., due to their purpose built rigity. Also they are real tight in the handling dept, as they should be.

Once again, if you are finding the lowered affect a bit a hassle right now, creeping over driveway entrances and straddling speed bumps, etc you might be frazzled contending with additional lowered affect of the Gymkhana style competiton shocks used for street purposes.

Lastly, there are those who do have this setup on their rides, but they do create giving extra thought about aggresive approaches to driveways, etc.

At some point low is low enough. You decide where that is. Otherwise nice equipment, the Bilsteins.

I have Bilsteins with Hotchkis sway bars and I like them. I always had to watch pulling into driveways even before I lowered it so thats not an issue with me. The ride is tighter than my stock F45 that I used to have but to tell you the truth I think it rides better with the Bilsteins even after being lowered 1.5 inches.

Let me give some more info, I should have explained my intentions before in the original post.

With the car lowered that automatically compresses your shocks. This both uses up shock travel and also places the shock in a higher damping part of the stroke. So I thought I understood that with the Bilsteins being 1-inch shorter that the would work properly and not be compressed excessively as stock shocks are on a lowered car.

I believe this is why people with lowered cars get a better ride with Bilsteis and stock shocks.

Your right. I called around and talked to different tuners and I told them I was going to lower my car and they recommended the Bilsteins.
