I'll be purchasing a set of TPIS long tube headers to compliment my Pro Charger this week and plan to go "catless." I've been told by a fellow member that if I go with straight pipe directly into my Borla's that the sound would be intolerable...very, very obnoxious and loud. He suggested that I go with straight pipe into an "X" pipe, into the Borla's.
Just curious if any of you had experience with this set up either way- straight pipe with no X pipe, or straight pipe into an X pipe. Any opinions?
DR. Gas in SLC Utah makes a REAL x-pipe just for this combination, fits right on the end on the headers and has stock center section center to center.
band clamp this to your headers and weld to your center section and all will be well. I've tested 7 different headers on my stock motored Z06 and this
combination with Ti mufflers has produced serious horsepower/torque.

Oh yeah I forgot to tell you that we have a stock short block Z06 that we've
assembled with ATI P-1SC that makes 700 sae rwhp through TPIS headers

I used to have the setup you're looking for and it wasn't too loud at all. Dr. Gas is the x-pipe you want.
First of all the Bassani x-pipe is way to far rearward placed to have the correct scavenging affect on the engine. Secondly , the Bassani x-pipe assy
does not have correct cross-flow and operates more like a h-pipe.X-ipe location is critical to hp/tq improvements. on the end of the headers on a C5 as compared to at the rear like most x-pipes can be 12-15 horsepower and likewise torque. have seen this many times on the dyno. lastly Dr. Gas is the
innovator in this technology not the immitator. Remember many moons ago when the Kodak chevy with Sterling Marlin was so dominant at Daytona and his car sounded Bizarre in comparison to the rest????Look at Dr. Gas's website and you will learn some things.

i had Kook, no cats, straight pipe into Corsa Pros and sound was too much for my neighbors...put back on the stock ZO6 Ti catback and now neighbors are happy plus i can hear my radio...stock ZO6 Ti catback significantly reduces the bark and probably only lost 2-3rwhp. Sound is different for sure.

...that's exactly what I'm buying. I found someone here on the forum selling this entire set up for a killer price. I should have it by early next week
