Default Input shaft question.............

How hard is it to change a left side differential input shaft? Could you also tell me what parts are involved with this too? Thanks in advance.

Do you mean the l/s output shaft that turns your wheels??
I just snapped mine this weekend and I have heard of this happening quite often all of a sudden.

Yes Sir. That's the one that I mean. I saw the same thing, and have a low mileage 3.42 that I'm going to have put in, and thought that I'd prepare it for the install.

You have to pull your diff out. It's an easy install when it's out., if you have worked on drivetrain components before. I'll be doing mine as soon as it gets here. If you wnat I could walk you through it. Since your diff isn't installed yet. All you replace is the shaft. Around $350 is the average. I got mine through DTE. Let me know.
Take it from me, get it done before it's in the car> It will save you alot of money, time and hassels

do they make a hardend shaft for the passenger side? because thats the one I broke. Once u install the hardened one on the driver side it now makes the passenger side the weak link.

Thanks! I might have to take you up on that! I haven't heard of anyone snapping the other side (not that it hasn't happened, I just never heard of it).

I'm pretty sure DTE makes one for the r/s. You replaced the driver's then snapped the passengers? That sucks. How long after and on what tires?
