Default Meziere Water Pump Help

Where is the best place to tap power for the electric water pump? I will be using a relay, and need to know a good source for a ignition activated power source.

Thanks

although there is an excellent write up concerning the installation at LS1 How To, I found that the source for power was very difficult to get to as found in that article. The space by the fusebox is extremely cramped and I found that trying to successfully crimp into the target wire UNDER the fusebox was a beyatch and I opted for an easier target. For me, I chose fuse #13, which controls the fuel pump at ignition on. The result is a much more secure source of power and removes the worry (for me anyway) of the crimp working free under the fusebox and having to try and fix that on the side of the road one day.

Mine is also wired to the #13 fuse.
I just bought the relay yesterday to wire in to a seperate switch like it shows in the LS1Howto.com instructions.
Looks like an excellent way to wire the pump so that you have more control of running it with the engine off.

Head to autozone..

The have a neat adapter that will plug into the #13 fuse location and create an additional fused output. you remove stock fuse, instert adapter then install original fuse into the bottom slot. The additional fuse slot will be for the new device and the wire attached to the adapter will be your relay feed.

I'm headed for an electric pump, so I followed this thread. And my concern is the potential for a voltage drop to the fuel pump. Even a 1/2volt drop has a very negative affect, especially if you're living at the limit of your fuel pump (wet N2O) system. It would be great if someone could take some at the pump voltage measurements with the car under a full load, i.e. on the dyno? Good to see a before and after or at least a measurement when the pump is not running and one when the pump is running. Just to see if there is a diffence.

Any takers?

...I just know with our turbo buicks the stinking wiring from the factory could not carry 13 volts to the back and was more often like 11.5 from the factory. So we all "hot wired" our pumps to get them back up to nearly 13 volts. On all our flow tests, this made a huge difference on pump output. So tapping into any line pump related was a big no no.

Just a thought guys....
