Drove the car last week and all was fine. Went out to cruise today (great day here in ST. L) and it was DEAD as a doornail. Removed battery and charged, and it started right up. Don't remember leaving a light on or anything that would have discharged the system but who knows.
Let it idle for a while (30 mins.) and was charging at about 12.5 volts. Took it out for ride tonight and was charging about 12.9-13.1volts.
What should be normal for the volt meter? Only wierd thing is now I can't change time on the radio clock.
My memory may be wrong but that voltage sounds low to me.
I think between 13.6 and 14.2 volts is what I see driving
depending on how discharged the battery is.
If your car still has the original battery, it's probably on it's way out. A C5 will kill the best of batteries if left sitting for 3 - 4 weeks, a weaker battery, not too long for sure.
Starting my car after it has sat for 1 week, it charges at about 14.1 - 14.5, then settles in to about 13.9 - 14.1 :)
I replace the battery about a year ago. This is the first time that this has ahppen and it sat for a week. I have let it sit for 3-4 weeks in the winter and it still fired up.

Maybe a trip to service to have system checked.
Thanks
Maybe you could leave the battery charging again overnight to make sure it is fully charged. If a cell is shorted on the battery it's hard to tell if it is the battery or the charging system. My voltmeter reads between 14.2 and 14.4 when the battery is full charged. My guess is premature failure of the battery.
