Default Need help with this code

On a 2004 ZO6. Got a check engine light a week ago, put in a different brand of gas and the light went off. Its back, it was 10 PCM code P0803 H C. The car is still running fine. Thanks for help and/or solution. :chevy

Someone posted some where else they thought a CAGS defeat may cause this code. Does anyone know for sure ? Thanks, Skip

My guess is the cable that connects to the solenoid is unplugged. When the shift 1 to 4 light goes on there is a voltage applied that locks out 2nd and 3rd gear. If there isn't the proper current flow the check engine light goes on and the P0803 CH registers.. Sounds like somebody unplgged the connector so your normal shifts weren't block but didn't put in the CAGS defeat resistor to fool the system.

Thanks for the reply. Its a new car, 1,000 miles on now. I put the CAGS on, it snapped on tight at the time. Maybe it came loose. I strap tied the CAGS device wires out of the way at the time. Any other ideas just in case ?? Thanks, Skip :)

Is it possible the 04 PCM does not like the CAGS defeat device. I have not had codes on other 6 sp Vettes. I bought a new CAGS from Mid America. :)

I think we would of heard a lot about 04s not working with CAGS defeat by now if that was the case.

I am going to guess it is just a matter of the connector not being seated all the way. If it isn't apparent that is the problem pull the CAGS defeat device out and measure across the 2 contacts with a VOM it should be around 2000 ohms if I remember correctly.

I have a 2004 C5 with the CAGS device and it works great. You can also use LS1Edit to fix this problem.

CAGS devices are cheap, I can get a new one if this one does not work out. Although I would try the next one from someone other than Mid America unless they make it right. Maybe the resistor fried for some reason. I don't have access to LS1 edit. :)
