[b]if the car is stock it is a complete waste of time and money. if the car is modified it is a complete waste of money and time.

the device holds a custom set of parameters that will reflash your PCM settings and supposedly give you more power.

see: http://www.hypertech-inc.com/products.html

and: https://www.corvetteforum.com/review...=43&TopicID=20
Hypertech is usefull if the car is completely stock and you plan to keep it that way. It can modify the pcm for additional performance, shift points, gear change etc etc. Ignore Sandra her personality of a know it all, feeds on shock value to get attention and lack of tact on the forum stinks.

Figure out what you want to accomplish and how far you want to mod. Hypertech is meant for stock car only as that is what they test the parameters against to make a quick fast change for a customer that has a otherwise stock car. If you are not stock and do not tell them what you changed the parameters will not match up.

I love mine, and a improvement from 13.95 to 13.17 can't all be attributed to a ZO6 exhaust. My 60 ft improved only .006, 1/8 mph went from 81 to 85+, final mph went from 103.0 to 106.8. bought mine used for $200. I was able to reprogram my shift points just fine and electronically increase line pressure for quicker firmer shifts. Fans have been programed to come on sooner and work well with my Hypertech stat. If I ever get rid of my car, I can de-program and recoup most of my investment. Thats something you can't do with the vaunted predator. Ls1 edit is probably the way to go if you are heavy into modding, but it is way more expensive and is not as idiot proof as the hypertech.

lets keep in mind that the Hypertech does not support gear scaling on the C5.

If one doesn't need that feature - then the Hypertech is a bargain considering the other things is can adjust.

From what I have seen on dyno charts and EFILive, my C5 runs at 14.7:1 aka stoichiometric nearly all the time, until WOT when it drops to 12.5:1 which is a good place for A/F ratio considering I have a Vortech V-2.

12.5:1 for a blown car on a Dynojet is good?

mmmKay.
Pray tell, what is the problem with 12.5 air to 1 fuel at WOT on a blown engine?

Sandra; sounds like you read alot (you know all the terminology) and believe things some people tell you as the gospel truth.

If I had a blown LS1 - I wouldn't feel comfortable with a 12.5 ratio at WOT. But hey... it's your car/money.

So Mike, I take it that you think 12.5:1 AFR is dangerous to my engine at WOT. What AFR do you recommend?

Please understand the car was modified and tuned at the Vortech works and the dyno run in Georgia indicated 12.5:1 AFR at the forward O2 sensor with 100 octane equivalent fuel at 6400 rpm in 4th gear.

Yes, I do read about car engines and performance, and I have talked to a number of tuners who I trust to know a whole more about engines and blowers than I do.

Not having the facilities to do my own testing and development, what else can I do? I pays my money and I takes my choice...

I am not an automotive engineer or a tuner, I do have an interest in things technical, but if I screw something up do let me know... =;-]
