Haha...
NO you wont...It applies pretty much to Stock production vehicles. Hence the Pure stock moniker..It is very explicit in stating that any power adders etc will put it into the current "Summit rules".
This is to pretty much allow Vipers and other HP vehicles have some fun.
The new rules, however, apply only to stock OEM-type production vehicles. Once any power adder or performance hardware is used, it then must follow the existing Summit E.T. safety requirements. Otherwise, any pure-stock, street-legal car running 11.50 or slower (example: stock Dodge Viper) would be governed by the proposed new Pure Stock Street Legal rules, providing the vehicle remains completely OEM stock.
Of course here in Memphis I went thru tech a few times and they never asked me to open the hood, so one day I asked "do you want me to pop the hood" and the guys respnce was "it's stock isn't it? I just said yeh
Stock requirments or not - THIS is a step in the right direction!!! Ok so I will purge in the parkinglot - I am glad to see they ok'd "Competition Exhaust" I am still a little confused as to why they don't just say 11.5 and over you are fine - Stock or not... But maybe that is next!
I would imagine as long as you do not flaunt it - you can pretty much just run....

As I read it, their reasoning for not just saying any street legal slower tham 11.49, is the implication is the manufacturers are building in proper structural safety into cars that are meant to perform in that range. Hence the reference to the Viper (though I never saw a stock one run under 12 flat). Whereas, for example, a Honda (fill in type here) that was not built with that level or performance designed in, would be presumed lacking.
Thats just an inferrence, I am no expert.
I'm hopeful the way it reads that any stock "looking" vette without a sc/turbo/nos/c5r block might make it in. At least for testNtune or bracket racing anyway, I'd have my ducks in a row if I were competing in a serious event. Might be a boost for the Darton blocks over the C5rs there...
Anyway MIR is an IHRA track, anyone at an NHRA track keep us posted. Isn't E-Town an NHRA track?

Re: Great news! New NHRA rules (wallstAL)
That's great news, but I bet they're pretty strict on the "pure stock" rules. They don't want to be liable when a "pure stock" Civic flips at 120 MPH and kills somebody.
I personally hope they expand it to other areas as well. As it stands no, I can't do jack crap...
It is a step in the right direction and it is up to individual track owners to implement as they see fit.
How they will enforce rules remains to be seen.
Looks like no air filter changes are allowed so all they gotta do is aske you to open the hood and they will see you non-stock air box and you are done if they want to be strict.
The rule can be implemented immediately. Englishtown is looking into it now.

But they did state that OEM turbos and s/cs are ok

Mark "CHEVY" did not make a factory turbo for your car...... And you already have the roll-bar..... I have heard that they do make a "HOT CAM" and special "HEADS" :p: Bob
