Default First mod. Drilled and slotted rotors

I saw these rotors on EBAY and was thinking of picking up a set.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

Wanted to see if anyone here has tried them out yet. Thanks.

I haven't heard of them before but if this statement is true then they can't be half bad.

***Rotors Made in USA/CANADA by BPC, same manufacture re-boxed for BREMBO. Cross-drilled/slotted in USA***

Many people here on the forum have found Sportsbrakes to be a fantastic value... I have had drilled and slotted and "Zinc" coated rotors for three years, unfortunatly they cost me 1000 dollars... If sports brakes where around three years ago I could have saved 750 dollars... I have heard nothing but good things about these rotors.. You have to understand that this type of rotor is not for hard autocross use.. these rotors are as good as oem for agressive street use.. or 1/4 mile track use.. These rotors are visually appealing at 1/4 the cost of other drilled and slotted znd zinc coated rotors..

Thanks for the feedback. What kind of pads do you use with these rotors? Ceramic? I'm not autocrossing this car.

Anyone ever try these rotors from GMPartsdirect.com? http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results...umber=88926732

The rotors are $40 and the ceramic pads are $35/axle. With shipping it works out to be $313. Seems like a pretty good deal. I'm still trying to find out whether they are Zinc coated. Anyone try these yet?

Ceramic pads will be great for typical street driving. Low dust is the real gain.

Oh Yeah (john),

I've changed brake pads once or twice in my life time but not on a vette. The cars were from my college days, old and beat up, so I wasn't to worried about get everything exactly right.

I'm thinking of getting these rotors and ceramic pads. I'm able to follow directions, and WILL take my time with the change.

Do you know of any link or can you post detailed step by step instructions on EVRYTHING that needs to be done to change my OEM rotors and pads on my 2004 Coupe?

Thanks

The GM drilled rotors are NOT coated and rust up overnight. You have to paint the centers to make them look good.

I have the GM drilled & slotted rotors. Paid about $80 each from GMPartsdirect. I did paint them, so have no rusting problem. I get a TON of complements on 'em. I go to a LOT of Corvette functions, have seen a few others, but not too many.

Man, when I saw that sale on the forum I thought that was a deal, Just for the looks if nothing else, I have saved my stock Z rotors for the track. It cost me $270 total delivered to my door, I was dealing direct with Sport Brake. I'v had mine on for about three weeks now and kept the stock Z pads and give them double thumbs up so far.

If you call Sportbrakes direct and tell them you are a member of the Corvette Forum and heard about their rotors here....$249.00 shipped.

I went the dimpled and slotted route and they are due today.
Can't wait to put them on.

Sportbrakes are great value! Love my slotted and drilled. When you put them on expect to see black streaks develope as they break in. The streaks will go away as you use them more.

I, too, would be interested if anyone has installation instructions. I have ordered a set of the slotted & drilled rotors from Sportbrakes. Anyone? Thanks!

Anyone had the Sportrakes rotors long enough to see if they will heat check (crack) like the OEM rotors?

Also, what brand of pads do you run on the street and where can I find them? I'm in San Antonio TX.

Thanks in advance.

I have Baer Eradispeed rotors with stock calipers. They have absolutely awsome stopping power... especially love the G-forces from 120mph-60mph

I used the gm rotors and painted the hats. The only problem is I didn't paint the drilled holes and they rusted. You don't really notice unless the car is in direct sunlight, and then it looks like crap. Buy the zinc coated ones!!

I have these on my 2000 and put the raybestos QS pads on at the same time. Been about a year now, still look and work great. I will never go back to the rusty factory discs and love that these pads produce a fraction of the dust. I always have other vette owners ask me what brand brakes they are.

Glad to see these guys are doing well, hope they are still around when I need another set.

Do the sportbreak rotors have to be painted so they don't rust like the GM rotors? What is it exactly that has to be painted?

Again, Are there any links that have complete step-by-step instructions on how to change the rotors and brakes on a 2004 C5?

Thanks
