[6 speed]Sometimes when putting into "Reverse" it grinds...
Not all the time but sometimes it does. Why? Clutch is fully engaged and it doesn't grind any other gears. I have an Exedy twin disk clutch. It goes into reverse fine but sometime it grinds for a second.

Can't give you the reasoning but I can say that you are not the lone "reverse grinder". Mine does it on occassion, no consistent symptons to identify when it will happen.
It did it with the stock shifter and with my Hurst - so I guess ruling out the shifter is a start. With the tightness of the hurst - it has allowed me to "feel" when it is not fully engaged which is followed by grinding if I don't lift clutch, then engage clutch fully to engage the gear properly.

I have the same problem from time to time. You need to make sure you "stop" by going to first gear then second gear , then it should slip into reverse.

I had the exact same problem right after I got my car and was told by the dealer to do as stated above.....sure it helps minimize the occurrence, but there still is an under lying issue with the tranny (not sure exactly what though). Anyway, after a third trip to the dealer on the issue I finally got a new tranny installed (under GMPP Ext) and that was four years ago and I've NEVER had a single grind issue in any gear and I never have to "run through a few gears" or "bump" the clutch to get it to go into gear. So my advice to you is get a new tranny if it still under warranty. Otherwise you may need to do rebuild.

Not a problem.. reverse is not synchronized - so depending on how things are lined up at the moment you hit reverse, you may or may not grind.... do the into another gear trick first then to reverse.

My tranny is brand new built by Crashed94 (Rodney)......sounds like a T56 tranny issue to me. Once in gear all is well and it only happens once in awhile like I said.

I don't know the details workings of a tranny, but I can tell you this I don't have to run through the gears here. And if it has to do with "gear alignment at the time" as RagTop_Rob mentioned then I guess I've been extremely lucky over the past four years. [KNOCK ON WOOD].

Mine does it too... usually on a cold start and going from 1st to reverse to back outta the garage. Now I just leave it parked in reverse and it is fine when I go to back out. The 1-2-R dance does work too .

Seems common then. Thanks for the replies everyone.....
