for those not informed... the 2004 C5 and Z06 take a completely different thermostat... But I believe Corvettes of huston, or West coast corvettes has an 04 stat, in the cooler temp range.

I looked on the West Coast Corvettes site the Corvettes of Houston and on the Hypertech site. On none of them did I find a thermostat specifically for an 04 Vette. Has someone actually purchased one somewhere?

Spoke with LAPD and they do not have it . They said hypertech is making them but will not be out for about two months.

While I'm generally a fan of LGM, as they are listing it as a 97-04 with 1 part number, when the 04 is a totally different design, leads me to believe it won't fit.

Vinci highperformance makes a 170 stat with high flow and built in bypass.

The only one avail. for '04. Hypertech has really dropped the ball on the '04 t-stats they promised in March.

You can make one yourself out of the stock LS1 thermostat. I did that with my 98 Formula and it worked well. I used a 3/16" piece cut off the end of a screw and it turned it into about a 160 thermo. I ran like that for over a year. I kept that thermo actually, so I could put it in a C5 (when I get one) if I wish.

I've lost the link which shows how to modify the stock thermo, but someone here can probably describe it.

The new stat is different, it drops into the housing. You can only cut the spring which I did but the stat opens at 187 which is still too high. Looks like the Vinci unit is the only choice but they charge you for a housing that you don't need.
